Keith Olbermann and Gutter Journalism

-cross posted from my blog on Townhall.com

Long before anyone even knew who Sarah Palin was, Keith Olbermann was feeding the fire breathing liberal dragon with a voracious appetite for red meat even if that red meat was artificially colored. My first "experience" with Keith Olbermann was a day about three years ago when, after being hounded by a friend to watch shows that present positions that oppose mine, I decided that it would be intellectually honest to take his advice. I caught the end of Hardball before settling in just as Countdown began. The next day, I told my friend that I did what he asked me and I will never do it again.

I didn't mean I would close my mind and just watch Fox News all the time. What I meant was I had learned that understanding the opposition meant looking for opinions justified with logic; and MSNBC was totally the wrong place to go for that. I soon became familiar with Salon and Camille Paglia. I also became a member of the Huffington Post shortly after the 2008 election so that I could be fair and balanced. I found that there are actually intellectually honest liberals out there; but they are far and few between. I admire intellectually honest liberals because, while they have so little facts to work with, they can still argue their points effectively without the need to make stuff up or turn it into a personal attack.

Now I really don't want to get into what happens in the mind of Keith Olbermann while he is in his bathtub. But I will tell you a thought that passed through my head this morning while I was in the shower was a very scary one. Remind me to call my friend and chastise him for letting this demon get into my head. The thought is this: Keith Olbermann wants conservatives like George W. Bush and Sarah Palin to go to jail.

I can't speak for Keith Olbermann. I can only judge him by his words and actions. My better angels tell me that he's just doing schtick to keep the liberals fired up. Behind those clenched teeth and frothing mouth there is a soul that God still loves and that if he saw Sarah Palin laying on the sidewalk in blood that he would walk over and help her. But there is another side of me that I can't dismiss. What if behind those glasses and underneath that well tailored suit there is a soul that Satan has captured? What if the reason why Sarah Palin was laying on the sidewalk in blood was because Keith Olbermann just ran her over with her car?

It all goes back to the first show I watched. "You, Mr. Bush, are a war criminal," Olbermann angrily snarled into the camera. "You, Mr. Bush, should be in jail." Oh my, I thought. This guy is deranged. He wants to put the President of the United States in jail for defending our country?

B.P. (before Palin), George W. Bush was Olbermann's punch doll. He would devise rhetorical ways to twist facts and tap into left wing sources to manufacture "evidence" in such a way that if you weren't totally paying attention you'd think that Bush and Cheney personally went down to Guantanamo Bay and waterboarded every prisoner themselves. Has Keith Olbermann ever directed that kind of vitriol and hatred toward those who knocked down our buildings on September 11th? I haven't seen it. I am open to be corrected if I am wrong.

I'd be curious to see how many times he said Osama bin Laden should go to jail or be bought to justice compared to how many times he said Bush should.

When Sarah Palin hit the scene, Keith Olbermann proved moreso than ever that he was going to become the head of the "destroy Sarah Palin" snake. He quickly befriended the Alaska bloggers and got two of them to appear as guests on his and Rachel Maddow's show. Then a couple of days ago, he used Palingates.com as a source for commentary which led me to that dreadful thought this morning: Keith Olbermann would love it if Sarah Palin went to jail.

Palingates and Olbermann are claiming that Sarah Palin "possibly" perjured herself because she supposedly "denied specifically diverting gubernatorial issues" to the the Yahoo email account that was hacked by David Kernell. While there are varying and disagreeing accounts of her testimony in the media, there is no actual transcript of how the question was exactly worded and how the question was exactly answered. If there is one out there, it doesn't show up in a Google search and no one in the mainstream media has actually provided the direct text.

This post is strictly addressing the journalistic integrity and motives behind why this issue even came up on Olbermann's show. Rather than quote pro-Palin sites or attempt to debunk the perjury claim here, let's be fair and cite a Palingate/Olbermann friendly site, Politicsususa, that assumes an unsubstantiated assertion that the unseen transcript would show that Palin is a liar but not guilty of perjury.

However, the Washington Post’s David Weigel hasn’t seen the transcript, but it looked like she did not perjure herself. The emails that Olbermann discussed were off limits for her testimony.
I'll leave the rest of the debunking of this to the journalistic experts. What this clearly proves is that Olbermann, Palingates and those in the mainstream media who are reporting on this testimony without seeing the transcript are clearly derelict in their duties as journalists and analysts.

A suggestion to the professionals from an amateur: zip it until you have all the facts straight first. It's this shooting from the hip mentality that is the reason why the smear campaign against Sarah Palin isn't working. People are getting immune to stories about "icebergs," federal indictments, divorces, maternity and now perjury charges that never materialize. Add 26 dismissed ethics complaints to this and even if I disagreed with Palin politcally, the most you'd be able to get out of me at this point would be a long drawn out yawn.

As horrible as it may be in today's America where "journalists" like Joe Klein are calling Palin seditious and Keith Olbermann is lobbing journalistic molotov coctail after molotov cocktail at her, nothing is more horrible than gutter journalism that guides people to the notion that fellow Americans are committing criminal acts when it is based on the motives of journalists who dislike their politics.

Imagine if Sean Hannity used a birther website to justify an argument that Barack Obama should go to jail for illegally obtaining the Presidency of the United States.

The fact that Keith Olbermann actually cites Palingates as a worthy source demonstrates how far he is willing to reach for any straw that keeps the liberal strategy of using the politics of personal destruction moving while trying to defeat someone who cannot be defeated in the arena in of ideas.

Based on Olbermann's logic, clearly Bill Clinton should have went to jail for perjury in the Paula Jones case. The only way to not intellectually honestly apply this logic would be to use liberal hypocrisy instead.

For Olbermann, the crafting of words is more important than the facts. The manufacturing of outrage is more important than the truth.

This is a free country. People like Joe Klein and Keith Olbermann are free to believe whatever they want. I don't ask them to agree with me. I don't ask them to agree with Sarah Palin. But inferring fellow citizens may be guilty of jailable offenses like sedition and perjury without due process or actually reading the transcript is beyond just crossing the line. It's media malpractice of the worst kind. This kind of journalism should carry the same stigma as plagiarism. And for that, Mr. Olbermann, you are the worst journalist in the world.

Another "Shit Piece" On Palin: Gabriel Sherman, New York Magazine

While taking a leak in the Orlando airport, I was amazed that they had found a way to have waterless urinals complete with a sticker that says "this will save 40,000 gallons per year per urinal" but there was no New York Magazine where the urinal cake should be. But, I realized there was a better place for Gabriel Sherman's New York Magazine Article: right next to the Charmin. Whether the reader is "on the throne" or the writer is getting a serious bout of diarrhea of the keyboard, the 8 pages of nonsense written from the outdated playbook that is no longer working can be put to good use. The "let's astroturf the magazine and journalism world with hit pieces on Sarah Palin hoping she will go away" meme is old. It's played. Get the hands off your crotches, liberals, and face facts: Sarah Palin is here to stay.

Apparently, Mr. Sherman didn't read my post from March 5, 2010. Bashing Sarah Palin is big business. But I like the twist. Bashing Sarah Palin about big business is big business. Way to go, Sherm, walked right into my wheel house. I don't expect someone of "your stature" to read my blog. No, I'm not a great writer and don't get paid nicely by a big liberal magazine to bash Sarah Palin. It's a shame I can't make a good buck writing crap.

According to Texas4Palin, Shermin's article has been debunked and debunked big time. As long as the "lamestream" media wants to keep on crapping out it's garbage, bloggers like Josh Painter and me and sites like Conservatives4Palin are going to fill the void left due to the abdication of the proper role of analyst, journalist and magazine article author on the part of the mainstream media. That sucking sound you just heard was the vacuum created by liberal journalists. It soon to be followed by the filling in of air from guys like us to even out the pressure gradient.

There is also nothing I like better than reading something Sarah Palin said or wrote a year ago and having it proven true today.  Sarah Palin has been right on the money from day one, whether it be Obama's associations, death panels or the stimulus plan. She is now warning us about financial reform. In my quest to back up my own opinions, I am finding more and more each day that Sarah Palin is the go to girl.

"First off, the people involved in writing government regulations are often lobbyists from the very industry that the new laws are supposed to regulate, and that’s been the case here," Palin writes. I've been trying to tell people that for years, but the right words were never available until now. Reagan did it. He could take your thoughts and articulate them back to you better than you thought them. Palin has that same magical power. God help the liberals. Life is going to get tough for them.

With that, it makes sense. They know they are doomed. Their last desperate breaths will be filled with Palin vitriol. They'll "stab it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast."

We Will Defend Ourselves and Our Great Sarah!

The Tea Party Express is asking everyone to chip in so that they can have beefed up security at the Tea Party event in Boston on April 14 in light of threats from groups to infiltrate the Tea Party and disrupt it. As an army fortifies a position, so will the Tea Party Express when it brings out its big guns on Wednesday. Their target is obviously Sarah Palin. On guard, fellow Barbarians. Be prepared to defend yourselves and our great Sarah.

The crazy loons are looking to incite violence. So be wary. Be armed heavily - with cameras and cell phones that is. Let's film these neanderthals so that we can post footage of them all over our websites and lets give Andrew Breitbart some real good mug shots to post on his sites if any of these nuts care to take the bait of baiting us. This is going to be like shooting (er, filming) fish in a barrel.

If they are violent toward any of us, film it and defuse it. But, if need be, fight back. We all have a right to protect ourselves, even physically, if attacked. Let's hope it doesn't come to that. But if it does, don't be afraid to knock a few heads around. I recommend big guys with cool heads and strong hands go to this one.

They must know we will never take the bait. But they also must remember Ronald Reagan's golden rule: peace through strength. They need to know heads are going to roll if they start anything. Yet the choice must strictly be theirs.

Those who go, keep an eye out around Sarah. Report all suspicious activity to security or law enforcement. If people in the crowd start heckling, surround them and wait for law enforcement or security. Hope to never have to throw a punch. But if these thugs pull the SEIU type of crap, remember this: it is better to throw the last punch than it is to throw the first.

Keep your temper in check but your resolve firm. Read more at Texas for Sarah Palin.

Obama Responds to Palin Attack

Sarah Palin let him have it. She unsheathed her sword on Hannity yesterday and took a full shot at Barack Obama. Obama responded. The man who is not an expert on running a country decided that Palin was not an expert on nukes.

According to Fox News:

Sarah Palin is no nuke expert, President Obama said Thursday in a TV interview, responding to Palin's criticism of Obama's new nuclear strategy.

Obama was asked about a comment the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee made on Fox News' "Hannity," comparing the president's plan to a kid asking to be punched in the face on the playground and vowing not to hit back.

"Last I checked, Palin's not an expert on nukes," Obama told ABC News. "If the secretary of defense and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff are comfortable, I'll take my advice from them and not Sarah Palin."

Obama has taken heat from the right for a shift in nuclear strategy that would limit the potential uses of nuclear weapons -- even in self defense -- while making exceptions for nations like Iran that have flouted international sanctions.

"It's unbelievable. Unbelievable. No administration in America's history would, I think, ever have considered such a step that we just found out that President Obama is supporting today," Palin, a former Alaska governor and now a Fox News contributor, said Wednesday in an interview with Sean Hannity.

"You know that's kind of like getting out there on the playground a bunch of kids ready to fight and one of the kids saying go ahead, punch me in the face and I'm not going to retaliate. Go ahead and do what you want to with me," she said. "No, it is unacceptable.

I love it. Palin got inside Obama's head. She has been relentlessly attacking the president like a pitbull. Since emerging from a brutal media smear campaign, Palin has written her book, given speeches and got the Fox News job. She's now on offense and she is stinging Obama.

Steve Doocy said it's not presidential the way Obama responded, and in a sense I can agree with him. But I love it. I love it that warrior Palin has unsheathed her rhetorical sword and the big bad president has chosen to engage her in battle.

Battle on, warrior Palin. There are millions of us behind you as you lead that charge up the hill to the shining city. We do not accept that the city is in the hands of a socialist who thinks the Constitution is flawed. The shining city on a hill lives on and shines brightly in our hearts. We are going to take it back!

UPDATE:

Our fearless warrior Sarah has struck at Obama again on this issue during her speech at the SRLC. Read here.

Mark "The Great One" Levin slams Obama and says Palin would be a superb president

Mike Huckabee on Fox News said Obama did more for Sarah Palin than Sarah PAC by engaging her on the nuclear issue and not ignoring her.

Obama has been skewered by the great Sarah Palin!

Crash Tea Parties: Infoshop News and Anarchists

Infoshop News is organizing anarchists to crash tea parties on April 15, 2010. To get an idea of what these dirt bags are like, take a look at what they write about Tea Partiers on their website. They view the "tea party movement that emerged only a year ago" as "a coalition of conservatives, anti-Semites, fascists, libertarians, racists, constitutionalists, militia men, gun freaks, homophobes, Ron Paul supporters, Alex Jones conspiracy types and American flag wavers."

This is an interesting take from a group of scumbags who protested against George W. Bush like this:

Apparently, they are looking for trouble. Given the number of veterans in the Tea Party movement, they may want to watch themselves around the so called "gun freaks."

The Tea Party is a non-violent group and should remain as such if these ignorami keep off to the side and out of harms way. But we need to be prepared to defend ourselves.

There is a conspiracy in this country to try to set off Tea Partiers so that they can be portrayed as violent so that the left can create the vacuum necessary to drain them of support. Don't be suckered in. The first step will be to film their activities. So everyone bring your video camera.

Also, be prepared in the worst case scenario to film Tea Partiers defending themselves if any of these thugs start any rough stuff. We should not pussyfoot around with them. Chances are SEIU and other left wing organizers will want to "pal" up with these freaks in the hopes of finally getting the news story they want. So video everything, even if it means videotaping self defense. Make sure videos clearly show any aggression on their part so that if we need to defend ourselves in the media later, we are justified.

Keep the sword sheathed. But if we need to pull it out and use it, make sure we properly document why.
