The Smear Campaign Against Sarah Palin Ends Not With a Bang But a Whimper

One who lives by the rhetorical sword of hatred dies by the rhetorical sword of hatred.

The moment GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin stepped off the stage in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after speaking at the Republican National Convention, there was this horrifying fear and panic that immediately shot up the spines of those in the progressive movement and the media establishment. They flew into a frenzy of lies, smears and innuendo against her, fully knowing that there was little time to get this genie back into the bottle before election day rolled around. Mark that day as the beginning of the smear campaign against Sarah Palin. Mark today as the end of it.

Don't mistake this as the end of opposition to Sarah Palin. That still exists in the mainstream media and is rearing its head more and more in the Republican establishment. But opposition requires legitimate tactics and intellectually honest debate to succeed. The smear campaign is over. Stopping Sarah Palin means having to take her head on now rather than slithering through the weeds and hiding behind unsubstantiated "anonymous sources" to spread gossip and toss out rhetorical garbage that the ignorant and uninformed will feed into.

That's right. The Palin haters in the media think you're stupid. They thought you'd actually believe their nonsense. For those who have bought into their nonsense, you have been had. Those who work hard and don't have the time to do all the research relied on the mainstream media for their information and they were given misleading information intentionally.

This writer commends Team Sarah, Conservatives4Palin, Ron Devito, Gary P. Jackson, Stacy Drake, William Jacobsen, Adrienne Ross, Josh Painter, William Collier, Pamela Geller, Dr. Gina Loudon, Tammy Bruce, Jedediah Bila, Andrew Breitbart, Dan Riehl, Robert Stacy McCain, Whitney Pitcher, Rachelle Friberg, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh and the thousands of others who collectively stood up for Sarah Palin and ended the smear campaign that was started up in the Mudflats of Alaska, a Celtic Diva's garden, a girl from Homer's microphone and an Immoral Minority's own personal hell.

The Immoral Minority website is now defunct. Patrick has been kicked off Palingates.com. Shannyn Moore struggles to further her career now that Keith Olbermann is no longer on MSNBC (a Google search on her name shows August of 2010 as her last first page accomplishment). Jeanne Devon earns blood money by collaborating on hit books about Sarah Palin.

The journalistic and pop culture worlds are littered with boats that have wrecked on the rocks of their own Palin hatred. Well known people like Kathy Griffin, David Letterman, Bill Maher, Martha Stewart, Peggy Noonan, Joe Klein, Norah O'Donnell, Mike Tyson, Madonna and others like them have all lost varying shades of respect from the public at large. Their hatred consumed them and it hurt their brands in one way or another.

If negativity is like a cancer that eats away at one's soul, it also eats away at one's reputation. Those who responded to the most existential threat to the progressive movement to ever walk the planet since Ronald Reagan have learned one universal truth: hate damages the hater more than the hated.

We can trace the smear campaign against Sarah Palin from the 2008 presidential campaign, through the frivolous ethics complaints that resulted in her strategically brilliant resignation, through her book tours and speaking engagements all the way up to today where the final last gasp is symbolized by a book by Joe McGinniss which is being torn to pieces by both the left and the right for its lack of substance and documentation.

Conservatives4Palin and Andrew Breitbart reports that it's even worse than the Palin haters thought. The McGinnis Book is a fraud and a hoax. "Now that there is evidence available to the public that shows there isn’t an ounce of proof to back up the claims made by McGinniss in his book, [Random House Publishing] should move to do the right thing and pull it from shelves," Stacy Drake writes in the Conservatives4Palin piece.

If the smear campaign against Sarah Palin was a fireworks show, the closing displays would be duds. Those trying to destroy Sarah Palin thought the McGinniss book was the final nail in Palin's coffin. Instead, it became the final nail in the coffin of the smear movement against Governor Palin.

The death of the smear campaign against Palin parallels the death of the media's ability to keep us from paying attention to "that man behind the curtain." The "One," who would stop the rising of the seas and whose voice boomed hypnotically from the speakers at campaign rallies where people fainted and cried for being in his presence, has had the shroud of mythology pulled away from him by the hard working people in the new media who have taken to the blogosphere and Twitter to present a truth the mainstream media desperately tried to hide for the last three years.

The media's agenda to protect and promote Barack Obama was the motivating force behind their smear campaign against Sarah Palin. They saw her as so viable and electable in 2012 that, even after she lost in 2008, they continued the campaign to destroy her knowing that she'd be back to possibly take down their beloved Barack. To this day, there are still people, even on Fox News and in the Republican Party, who have unknowingly allowed these media tricksters and subliminal manipulators to succeed in getting them to believe that Palin can't win in 2012. They underestimate Palin at their own peril.

Despite this mind crime, Palin's numbers remain strong. Her army continues to grow. Just look at how Organize4Palin continues to expand its scope throughout the country. She is polling in the top tier of Republican candidates even though she has not yet announced if she's running for president. SarahPac is saying she is on the verge of announcing. She was supposed to be living in a trailer park with curlers in her hair if you believed what was being written about her two years ago.

Had the smear campaign succeeded, Palin would have been destroyed by now. Had the trembling tigers - the weak minded amongst the more conservative punditry and within the Republican ranks - stood up for her and took on the media lies, Palin would probably be the front runner right now. These weaklings don't have the guts to articulate that it was the media that was damaging Palin and not her reality show, not "blood libel," not her supporters (Ann!) and not her book tours.

Yet, here she stands viable and electable. And, she hasn't even shown her stuff yet on the campaign trail.

It's becoming obvious to many that the media has lied to us. The failing Obama presidency was easily foreseeable had those in the media just done their jobs and reported accurately on his ideology, his associations, his false assumptions and his lack of experience. At the same time, they tried to destroy the one among us who had the real abilities to be president (vice president at that time) by lying about her.

The media may itself be no longer able to stomach the lies as talk begins to circulate that they may be ready to turn on Obama.

Monty Pelerin at American Thinker writes:
Barack Obama won the Democrat nomination because the mainstream media adopted him and went out of their way to ensure that he, rather than Hillary Clinton, won. As expressed by the Rex Murphy:
American journalism will have to look back at the period starting with Barrack Obama's rise, his assumption of the presidency and his conduct in it to the present, and ask itself how it came to cast aside so many of its vital functions. In the main, the establishment American media abandoned its critical faculties during the Obama campaign and it hasn't reclaimed them since.
As a result, the press gave the great American republic an untried, unknown, and, it is becoming more and more frighteningly clear, incompetent figure as president. Under Obama, America's foreign policies are a mixture of confusion and costly impotence. They are increasingly bypassed or derided; the great approach to the Muslim world, symbolized by the Cairo speech, is in tatters. America's debt and deficits are a weight on the entire global economy. And the office of presidency is less and less a symbol of strength.

To the degree the press neglected its function as watchdog and turned cupbearer to a styrofoam demigod, it is a partner in the flaws and failures of what is turning out to be one of the most miserable performances in the modern history of the American presidency.

A tipping point appears to have been reached in the last month or so. The myth of Obama has ended. There is now open talk from the media that Obama cannot win in 2012.

Just as Democrats don't want a pariah at the top of the ticket, many in the media do not want to continue plugging what is obviously a failed candidate. The protective shield that existed is being dismantled. The press is more interested in saving what credibility they have left, rather than justifying an increasingly indefensible and broken presidency.
The media malpractice that got Obama elected and Palin targeted is a failure. The slobbering love affair is over.

The American people are busy, prone to bad information when they expect truth from an institution that failed them. But, they are not stupid. "Snake oil is never purchased a second time," Pelerin writes. "Instead of the brilliant problem-solving uniter much of the nation believed they were buying, they got an incompetent, small, and not likeable mountebank."

Conversely, if the media was completely out of its mind for running cover for Obama, then it makes sense that the media was completely out of its mind for participating in the smearing of Sarah Palin. Obviously, if they were wrong about Obama, they were wrong about Palin. The haters relied on the established media to push their memes. The gravy train is no more. Turn out the lights. The party's over.

The Palin haters have emptied their arsenals. Their relentless attacks for three years made her stronger. It challenged her to think outside the box about her resignation strategy. It gave her the opportunity to extricate herself from a potentially bankrupting experience at the hands of miserable sacks with miserable lives who's only answer to their own unhappiness was to spend their time and efforts trying to destroy her. She became more successful because of it, not less.

They have fed the beast they so wrongfully tried to destroy. Because of their efforts, Governor Palin is the most vetted candidate ever. Should she run, the "October surprise" will be impossible to conjure. Should she run, impaling her on her record, her character and her work ethic will be a futile attempt. Yes, the Democrats will come after her. They will smear any candidate who wins the GOP nomination. But with Palin, you get a tried and tested product. There will be no surprises. We have the failed smear campaign against her to thank for that.

Though this smear campaign is over, it doesn't mean they will stop trying to stop her. A new door is about to open. New challenges lie ahead for Governor Palin if she runs and gets the nomination. For the Palin army, the fight goes on. For her detractors, trying to defeat her now is going to be even more difficult. The Caribou Barbie days are over. It doesn't stick anymore.

Conservatives4Palin: Are You Ready to Storm the Beaches?

Mary Beth House writes a piece that fits so perfectly with the theme of this blog, I had to put it on here:
I just spoke with Peter Singleton, who many of you are aware is the co-coordinator in the great state of Iowa for Organize4Palin, because I had some questions about the interview he did with Robert Costa over at National Review in this article: Still Waiting for Sarah.

I was especially interested in this part of the article, which you’ll note isn’t quoting Peter but rather paraphrasing him:

However, he [Singleton] says that he will not wait forever, and that his efforts are a “serious” push to establish a movement behind her message, not to be a “fan” or cheerleader.
I had noticed some commenters at C4P took this to mean that he was losing hope and getting discouraged…and I wanted to give him the opportunity to respond to that characterization.
Peter laughed.

“What? Losing hope? Not a chance!”

But what of the article’s suggestion that he won’t wait forever? That he’s not a “fan” or “cheerleader”? Peter clarifies:

“Look,” he said, “if Governor Palin announces she’s not going to run, I’m not going to hang on and hope she changes her mind. I’ll accept it and respect it and my work helping lay the groundwork for a potential Palin presidential campaign will be done. What I’ve done, I’ve done freely and I’m glad for the experience. At the end of the day, Governor Palin will not owe me a thing.”

This is the prevalent attitude amongst those working as volunteers with Governor Palin. Our volunteering, our contributions are done with a heart of a servant, not expecting anything in return.

But what does he really feel about the timing of Governor Palin’s announcement?

“As I said in the NRO piece, we really aren’t all that concerned about the timing,” Peter confirmed.

Then he painted a mental picture for me.

“Imagine, if you will, that this is May 1944. We’re all in our tents in Great Britain. We’re all preparing.

You’ve checked your boots. And checked your gear. Do you have your sidearm? Check. What about your rifle? Double check. How about extra ammo? You’ve packed and re-packed the landing craft. The fellows in the airborne have pored over the maps of the drop zones, again and again.

And as you continue through the laundry list of things you need to do to prepare for the call to hit the beaches…you notice your buddy two bunks over is just sitting there, his arms crossed tightly.

‘Hey pal,’ you call out. ‘Aren’t you gonna get ready?’

‘No,’ he mutters under his breath.

‘Why not? Everyone knows that the invasion is imminent!’

‘Because General Eisenhower hasn’t briefed me on his strategy.’

‘What!?’ you reply incredulously.

‘When are we going? Where are we going to hit?’ he exclaims. ‘What day? These are all things we need to know, and know right now. I’m not going to do a thing to get ready until I hear from the General!’

That scenario is preposterous when you think about it, isn’t it? Because, as soldiers, they all knew they had to be ready. They did know that invading the continent was almost certain and was imminent. But they also knew that they would never be privy to the strategic planning—and should not be. The less people who knew of the whens and the wherefores, the less chance there was of the information being leaked to the Germans. And then what would have happened? The Germans would have been ready and waiting on June 6, and on the beaches of Normandy—and the course of the war and of human history would have been changed.

So we too must look at the election cycle metaphorically as a war.

Today, for us, it is May of 1944. We don’t know when the call will come, only that it’s almost certainly coming…and it’s coming soon.

So our job right now is to prepare for that call so that when the announcement comes…we are ready to go. We’re are prepared and ready for what is to come.

That the “General” hasn’t filled us in on her strategy is no surprise. Secrecy and message discipline is vital in any campaign…be it a campaign for war or a campaign for office. This is could not be more important in this, potentially the most important election in American history.

So the question I throw out there to all Palin supporters is this…

Are you ready to storm the beaches?"
Powder dry? Rhetorical swords sharpened and in their sheaths? Rhetorical rifles clean and loaded?

Let's get ready to roll!

Todd Palin Pulls the Sword From its Sheath

According to Peter Hamby of CNN:
Todd Palin: McGinnis book "full of disgusting lies, innuendo, and smears."

Todd Palin also says McGinnis "has been relentlessly stalking my family" and has "a creepy obsession with my wife."
That metal on leather sound you just heard was Todd Palin pulling the sword from its sheathe. Todd is a man's man and would need little help with disposing of McGinniss (rhetorically speaking of course); but the army is ready and we've already been hitting the comment boards and straightening things out.

What you are seeing here is the last dying breath of a smear campaign that has utterly failed. After three years of trying to destroy Governor Palin, Americans are waking up to the fact that the media lies. They're not buying it anymore. Every lie and every smear that has been hurled at Sarah Palin has been thoroughly debunked. The liberals are down to the bottom of the dumpster. They are scraping up the coffee crumbs of their final last shot at her.

Given all that she has had to withstand over the last three years, she is the strongest, most vetted and most ready of any candidate to take the helm of our great nation. Anyone who can withstand the vile and disgusting attacks that she has and be 3rd in the polls without even announcing (ahead of all announced candidates other than Romney and Perry) has the presidential mettle.

Stand and Deliver

Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter decided tonight that they would trash Sarah Palin following her best speech since the 2008 VP nomination acceptance speech in Minnesota at the Republican National Convention. Quite frankly, if people on "our side" can't give credit where credit is due, then how the hell do you expect me to get into a foxhole with them if the Republican nominee isn't Sarah Palin?

You see, Democrats stick together no matter what. Even though 75% of Californians believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, they are still going to vote for Obama. But Republicans and conservatives, we shoot ourselves and that's why we lose.

Governor Palin said  in New Hampshire:
We need to talk about media-incited internal squabbles that we can nip in the bud, right here and right now — because we’ve got a lot of work to do, Constitutionalists. Our challenges today are too great. We simply don’t have time to be bogged down in internal conflicts and friendly-fire conflagrations. The time to secure our future and preserve our blessings of liberty and RESTORE our economy is now.
We fell for the Alinsky tactics in 2008. What are we going to fall for divide and conquer tactics in 2012?

If you read some of the nasty stuff being written by people on our side about people on our side, you can understand why Democrats have been kicking our ass. Their guy, who is presiding over the worst economy we have had since the Great Depression can't even speak without a teleprompter (and they were able to elect a peanut farmer and a corrup philanderer to the presidency in the past, but Palin's unelectable!!!!?). Yet his supporters don't waiver.

Then you have Jimmy Hoffa who says "let's take these sons of bitches out." Debbie Wasermann Schulz goes on Fox News and clams up. Jay Carney clams up. Everyone on the Democrat side will not publicly criticize Obama. Everyone on the Democrat side won't condemn Jimmy Hoffa's remarks.

Yet, if Sarah Palin had said what Jimmy Hoffa said or if George W. Bush was the president right now, you could rest assured that there would be Republicans and people on our side criticizing them. How could she say that? How could Bush could get re-elected in this economy? They'd friggin primary him. You don't see Democrats primarying Obama do you? You don't see Democrats backing away from Jimmy Hoffa, do you?

Palin puts a standard campaign target insignia on her website and is accused of shooting Gabrielle Giffords. What does she get? She get's criticized by Republicans because she called the leftist smear campaign against her and the Tea Party a blood libel.

Union thugs beat up a Tea Partier, New Black Panthers threaten to kill white babies and Jimmy Hoffa says to "take out" Tea Partiers. What do they get? Unions get waivers from Obamacare, New Black Panthers get a blind eye from the attorney general and Jimmy Hoffa gets a handshake from the President. What does Palin get for her speech in Iowa? Ann friggin Coulter. Spit.

Come on! If we don't get our shit together and start acting like the adults that we will need to be to take back our country then we might as well start stockpiling our supplies and our money and prepare for the thousand years of darkness that Ronald Reagan warned us about.

I asked a well known conservative blogger who was bashing Sarah Palin and who was arguing with everyone on Twitter about her who his candidate is. No response. Instead he, like Coulter, complained about Palin supporters being so quick to attack when she's criticized. Understand something. It's not that Palin supporters are quick to the sword because "Sarah can do no wrong." It's because we're quick to the sword after watching her being bashed by the liberal media and the elites for the last three years and now we have people on our side doing it when they should be battling Obama.

Where were the conservative and establishment Sarah bashers of today two years ago when the media went after Sarah Palin after the 2008 election? Where were they when the media and the progressive movement intentionally tried to destroy her when she returned to Alaska to govern? They were nowhere to be found. They let the liberals and the media destroy her - drive her from her governorship - and not a friggin peep. Then they have the audacity to call her a quitter? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?

You can bet your ass if you even look at Palin the wrong way that the hate mail will come flying in and the arguments on Twitter will grow bitter. That's right. Whether you're a liberal or a conservative, it doesn't matter. Palin's army is the most committed and best toned fighting force in the world. We are buff. We are quick to the trigger. Why? Because none of the wussies on our side had the balls to stand up for her when she need the help the most, and even worse, now they're bashing her. Obama's down now and his army still fights.

I want to commend Ron Paul supporters. Other than Palin supporters, Ron Paul supporters will pull the sword and stand up for their guy. I don't agree with Ron Paul. I don't like when Ron Paul supporters bash Sarah Palin. But you know what, I respect that they have balls. They have a horse and they're willing to die for their horse. They will engage you in debate. They know what they stand for. They know what they believe in.

I want that in all Republicans, conservatives and libertarians. When I asked that well-known blogger who his candidate is and he didn't respond, it tells me he's more interested in bashing Sarah Palin than he is in supporting his own guy.

Don't tell me what you're against. Tell me what you're for. If you can't find something that Sarah Palin has said or written that you disagree with, then stand back because you're not delivering. I see people on our side spending more energy bashing Sarah Palin than going after Obama and calling him out legitimately on a record that is piss poor at best.

As for Ann Coulter, you want to back Christie? Great. I'm glad you have a horse (and a big one at that). But you know what? Complaining that Palin needs to fish or cut bait out of one side of your mouth and then supporting someone who says OUTRIGHT that he's not running is a sad reach at a dream that will not happen. Fall in love with the guy who will never love you back, Ann. But don't be bitter and don't take it out on Palin.

Palin skeptics on "our" side, ask yourself what you want. Ask yourself what you want America to look like. If you don't want America to look the way Sarah Palin wants it to look, then go vote for someone else. Go find a good crony capitalist who will return this country to the shithole it was before Obama without the socialism. If that's what you want, then let's bring back Gerald Ford, Bob Dole and John McCain. Maybe they'd be more "electable" than Sarah Palin.

Besides, the two most "unelectable" candidates the Republicans ever ran were named Lincoln and Reagan. Yeah, look how bad that worked out for us.

Go ahead. Look a gift Palin in the mouth. Honestly guys and ladies, if you can find a better candidate than Palin, I'll vote for him or her. Just stand and deliver. Otherwise shut up. Good Democrats know how to keep the lip zipped. Bad Republicans don't.

Barbarians at the Gates of the Shining City

We're drawing closer, folks. Yes, we are barbarians as Joe Biden calls us. We are the Ordinary Barbarians as Rebecca Mansour and the folks at Conservatives4Palin have dubbed us. Joe Biden tries to mock us as terrorists and the New York Times calls us hobbits because we, as true Americans, have come to take our country back from the socialist progressives who are floudering in their attempts at fundamentally transforming our country.

We're drawing so close that "say it ain't so, Joe" Biden has warned the Obama army that the barbarians are at the gates and that they are the only ones who can stop us. Jimmy Hoffa has called on Obama's army to take us "sons of bitches" out.

So sharpen the rhetorical swords and let's get ready to rumble.

Our great leader has told us:
You will be demonized. They’ll mock you. They’ll make things up. They’ll tell you to “go to hell.” But we’ll bite our tongue, we’ll keep it classy, and we won’t respond—as tempting as it is—to anyone who just has such disdain for our free market economy and for individual initiative and responsibility. We won’t say, “No, you go to hell.” No, we won’t say that. You know why we don’t have to say that? Because when we have time-tested truth and logic on our side, we win. And when we refuse to retreat because we know that our children’s future is at stake, we win.
The liars of the left will soon feel our sting.

Onward to victory!

Game on!
